I love being a wedding professional! Not only do I get to create beautiful arrangements for blushing brides, but I also get to meet other amazing wedding professionals. Many of us go on to create exciting designs together, which is a truly rewarding experience.
During a styled shoot some time ago, I met Ashley, who is the owner and phenomenal cake artist at The Dulce Experience. The first time I met Ashley she let me know up front that she’s a little wild and crazy with some of her ideas. I thought to myself, wonderful! She’s very straightforward and always willing to help, which is what I love about her.
I’m glad that we were able to work together at the styled shoot because later on, we worked together on an actual wedding! I absolutely loved the outcome of her cake combined with my fresh flowers. It’s definitely not your typical white wedding cake, which is a win in my book.
Here’s one thing you should know: your wedding design elements should harmonize with each other. You might be working with different professionals for your cake, flowers, and centerpieces, but their work should be cohesive. That’s why I loved working with Ashley. It’s really satisfying to collaborate on something beautiful with someone else. A gorgeous floral arrangement combined with a creative, styled cake can create a wonderful backdrop.
When I design floral arrangements for a wedding, I try to incorporate the couple’s personal style. Some people want to get married under a bower studded with roses while others prefer a more rustic feel. Whatever it is, it’s my job to help you achieve that. I always want my designs to work well with others and that’s why it was so refreshing to work with Ashley, as she’s the same way.
Seeing the stunning cake that Ashley designed really drove this point home for me. You MUST hire a strong team of artists and professionals if you want your wedding to look incredible. If you choose to DIY, then you must make a commitment to take on the stress and worry that comes along with it.
Either way, you need to make sure that each part of the team is strong. For instance, maybe you know how to make centerpieces but you’ve never baked anything other than a boxed cake. Or maybe you don’t know anything about flowers. Don’t be afraid to seek out professional opinions.
Wedding planning doesn’t have to be stressful. If you have the right people on your side, it can be a joyous experience. If you hire a professional to take care of some or all of the design work, it lifts a burden from your shoulders. You don’t have to worry about chasing down vendors or examining shipments. You can focus on what’s important, which is marrying the love of your love.
The wedding that Ashley and I coordinated turned out beautifully. The work and attention of many skilled people came together to create a special day for the bride and groom.
Wedding cakes can be iconic. They’re like flowers. You can’t imagine a wedding without one. Ashley and I are a natural pairing. I absolutely love her creativity. I hope we work together on many future projects!

Ching & I first worked together on one of our clients’ weddings & she did an incredible job! From her communication to her absolutely stunning florals! Afterwards she reached out to me to do a styled shoot together! She worked on getting fabulous new local wedding vendors to our venue, The Roostertail. Organizing a styled shoot takes more than most people realize but she handled everything in a professional and friendly manner! Since then I have personally reached out to her paper invitation company for two different projects!"
