If there’s one thing the covid-19 pandemic has taught me, it’s how to pivot! Unfortunately, it’s also impacted how our awesome clients celebrate the major events in their lives, like their wedding day. The good news is, changing a celebration does not mean canceling it. At Design Quintessentials, we have worked hand-in-hand with our couples to craft their new wedding visions. Keep reading to learn how we brought Sydney and Joel’s vision to life!
Sydney and Joel had always envisioned their wedding as a grand celebration of their love, and their initial out-of-state locale reflected this vision. But, the couple realized that this would not be safe with Covid-19, and they needed to take a pause and recalibrate.
Well, most importantly, this meant rethinking their venue, and it turns out they didn’t have to look far. This amazing couple looked right in their own backyards to find the perfect setting, which turned out to be Sydney’s parents’ yard! The yard is undoubtedly beautiful, but it is also minimalistic. This gave the Design Quintessentials team a blank canvas to work with, and I was excited to get started!
Because the yard was very minimalistic, we ended up inspired by these open-ended creative possibilities. Looking at the backyard, we realized that we could go bold with our floral arrangements and make them the highlight of the ceremony.
After careful consultation with our bride and groom, we selected primarily white roses with extravagant greenery to add a huge pop of color. I definitely heard ohhhs and ahhhs from the crowd the first time they saw Sydney’s stunning wedding bouquet. And, this bouquet was not the only visual stunner at the event. There was a beautiful floral arch with lace draping that the happy couple was married under.
White is an amazingly versatile color to use in wedding floral arrangements. It adds a touch of elegance and purity to everything. But, it can also be dressed up or down with other colors. In the pictures from Sydney and Joel’s wedding, we can see how the flowers truly pop against the bridesmaids’ dark, halter-style gowns. This versatility is one of the reasons why the Design Quintessentials team loves working with white flowers.
Whether your wedding is at a large venue in Metro Detroit or your family members’ backyard, we can use flowers to tell your love story. Contact Design Quintessentials today to learn how we can assist you on your big day!

Ching & I first worked together on one of our clients’ weddings & she did an incredible job! From her communication to her absolutely stunning florals! Afterwards she reached out to me to do a styled shoot together! She worked on getting fabulous new local wedding vendors to our venue, The Roostertail. Organizing a styled shoot takes more than most people realize but she handled everything in a professional and friendly manner! Since then I have personally reached out to her paper invitation company for two different projects!"
