When it comes to weddings, black and white never goes out of style. It’s the most timeless and classic palette of all time. But when you mix that elegance with whimsical, romantic florals and a touch of modern color, magic happens. That’s exactly what unfolded at Emily and Glaine’s stunning Chelsea Clocktower wedding in Michigan.
The historic Chelsea Clocktower, built in 1907 by the Glazier Stove Company as a water tower, set the perfect stage for their day. The renovated space, now featuring beautiful office and retail areas, gave the wedding a sense of history while allowing for a fresh and modern design.
Often, when couples choose black and white, the look is straightforward: black linens, white flowers, and two-tone simplicity. But Emily and Glaine wanted something more unique. They embraced black linens and chic black bridesmaid dresses, but the flowers? That’s where we added unexpected charm.
To bring in warmth and romance, we designed a whimsical floral palette filled with lush textures and soft, airy tones. Coral roses added the perfect pop of color, paired with creamy white blooms, blush accents, fresh greens, and playful dahlias and cosmos. These florals softened the bold black elements and created a dynamic balance that felt both timeless and modern.
Emily’s bouquet quickly became the star of the day. With its soft, romantic structure and coral highlights, it captured everything she envisioned. She loved it so much, in fact, that after the wedding, she reordered a second bouquet just so she could preserve it this time—a true testament to the power of flowers and how they can leave a lasting impression.
The result? A black and white wedding with a colorful twist that felt sophisticated, joyful, and completely personal. Emily and Glaine’s celebration at the Chelsea Clocktower proves that while black and white will always be classic, adding a touch of color and texture is what makes a wedding unforgettable.
